Fitness and nutrition are no exceptions

Fitness and nutrition are no exceptions. Take any cross section of people, say 100, and ask their opinion on a particular fitness idea, and you will probably get 100 different opinions. This is the dilemma I see often with clients. Many, before I see them, have spent a period of time ‘trying out’ this diet or that workout plan because it worked for their friend or their sister gave it to them and so on.

Say you don”t play tennis. Wouldn”t you be suprised if a tennis player suddently tried to sell you on becoming a player if you weren”t one? And insisted that you SHOULD become one, and that whatever sport (if any) you WERE playing now was not as good, as tennis?

Poker, The Cheating Game? - Part I
e2f
Pokers advance from the casinos of New Orleans to the paddle wheelers plying the Mississippi River in the early years of the 19th century. created new opportunities for the professional gambler. These steamboats were lavishly appointed floating palaces catering to the well-heeled, replete with wine, women and song for the taking, and, oh yes, gambling. Many of the passengers on these cruises were Southern plantation owners flush with money thanks to the arrival of the railroads linking the cotton fields to the mighty river. These were men looking for a good time and willing to spend or lose their money in pursuit of pleasure.

Racing has always attracted tricksters and conmen

Nicholls revels in Kauto Star’s restoration

That cocksure comeback from Kauto Star at Down Royal on Saturday has certainly put a spring in his trainer’s step. What, for instance, did Paul Nicholls make of Tidal Bay’s reappearance at Carlisle the next day? Well, Howard Johnson would be pleased. And the horse could only beat what was put in front of him. But Tidal Bay still had “a mountain to climb”, Nicholls asserts, if he was going to concern Kauto Star, or indeed Master Minded.

‘I tried my best to the end’ insists Glock after fateful finish

Timo Glock said Lewis Hamilton won the world drivers’ championship by his own skills shown throughout the season and not because of the German’s tyre choice for the final laps of the Brazilian Grand Prix. Glock opted to stay on dry-weather tyres as light rain fell in the closing stages of Sunday’s race and, though he did not lose too much time initially, the final lap proved crucial as Hamilton passed him in the last few hundred metres to give the Briton the fifth place he needed.

Sky is the limit for high-flyer Hamilton

In all the inevitable hoopla that surrounded Lewis Hamilton’s dramatic World Championship success in one of the greatest showdowns in Formula One history at Interlagos on Sunday, when he became the 30th and youngest-ever title holder, there is one fascinating little statistic that demonstrates just how stratospheric his career can become. He might share with Jacques Villeneuve the distinction of winning the World Championship in only his second season, but he is the only man ever to miss a title by a single point and then win the next by the same margin in his first two seasons of competition. And he will only get better.

James Lawton: Italians quick to see through Mourinho’s threadbare clothes

Jose Mourinho is feeling heat in Italy, more certainly, than at any point in his long and frequently orgiastic relationship with the English media. Perhaps not to the total surprise of some of us, though, there are a few shrewd judges who believe that quite a bit of the pressure and anger has been generated, with delicious irony, by the Special One himself.

I don’t need to tell you that you feel great when you’re on vacation! Granted, the stress level

I dont need to tell you that you feel great when youre on vacation! Granted, the stress level BEFORE that vacation may be high, but often there is some time that you can really say you feel that ahh feeling, at least once. You know; youre lying in the pool in your vacation home rental, listening to wind in the trees and the waves hitting the shore just below you. And when you get that feeling, you wish it would last even longer. My favorite explanation of the benefit of a vacation is from Dr. Mel Borins, author of the book Go Away Just for the Health of It; He says that every trip is a break from the treadmill of daily life.
